CBS has officially announced the renewal of “NCIS” for its 22nd season, alongside the comedy series “The Neighborhood,” which secured a seventh season slot on the network.

The renewal news arrives amidst a flurry of positive announcements for CBS, including renewals for all three “FBI” series, as well as “Tracker,” “Ghosts,” and “Fire Country.” Additionally, “NCIS: Sydney,” the franchise’s inaugural international installment, has been greenlit for a second season by both CBS and Paramount+ Australia.

Currently in its 21st season, “NCIS” continues to impress with an average viewership of 12.9 million, as reported by Nielsen’s live-plus-35-day multiplatform data, representing a significant 12% increase from the previous year. The show holds the honor of being the second most-watched entertainment program of the season, following closely behind “Tracker.” Led by Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Katrina Law, Brian Dietzen, and Diona Reasonover, “NCIS” explores the intricate dynamics within a team at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Meanwhile, “The Neighborhood” boasts an average viewership of 7.9 million, according to live-plus-35-day multiplatform data, marking a commendable 10% rise from the previous year. The comedy stars Cedric the Entertainer as the epitome of Midwest friendliness, navigating life in a Los Angeles neighborhood where his extreme neighborliness isn’t always appreciated.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach expressed pride in both series, describing them as quintessential examples of authentic storytelling with heart, humor, and familial dynamics.

As “NCIS” gears up to celebrate its 1,000th episode on April 15th, the franchise’s expansion continues with the development of an “NCIS: Origins” prequel series featuring Austin Stowell as a young Gibbs, and a Paramount+ spin-off centered on fan favorites Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.

“NCIS” airs Mondays at 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT, following “The Neighborhood” at 8:00-8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, with both shows available for live streaming and on-demand viewing on Paramount+.
