The release date for NCIS Season 22 has finally been announced! The long-running series will return on October 14 at 8 PM ET on CBS, followed by the two-hour premiere of its prequel spin-off, NCIS: Origins, at 9 PM ET.

While many fans are excited about the upcoming season, others are mourning the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, which ended after three seasons. Reactions on social media range from disappointment to outright refusal to watch the new season. One fan wrote, “Not the same without Hawaii,” while another said, “The only premiere date we want is that of NCIS Hawaii!” A third fan declared, “I will not be watching anything NCIS until we get news of Season 4 for NCIS Hawaii.”

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach explained the tough decision to cancel NCIS: Hawai’i, saying, “We look at all the numbers and projections and make the tough calls.” She acknowledged the difficulty of such decisions, expressing empathy for disappointed fans.

Following the show’s end, Vanessa Lachey paid tribute on Instagram, expressing pride in her role as Special Agent Jane Tennant and encouraging others to “push the envelope and break glass ceilings.”

As for NCIS Season 22, the official synopsis has yet to be released, but it’s expected to address Agent Knight’s (Katrina Law) new job at Camp Pendleton, as hinted in the Season 21 finale. Law remained tight-lipped about her character’s future, teasing fans to “tune in for that season opener.”

Co-showrunner Steven D. Binder hinted that the show will keep fans engaged, saying, “We’ve had people look like they were going away and then they weren’t. We aim to please and think the audience will be satisfied with where we go.”
