### NCIS Universe Expands: Spinoffs and Potential Crossovers on the Horizon

Since its launch in 2003, the NCIS franchise continues to grow, with two exciting spinoffs in the works. NCIS: Origins, starring Austin Stowell as young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, focusing on the careers and relationships of Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David after leaving the flagship series, are set to expand the universe even further.

As the franchise delves deeper into the backgrounds of its characters, NCIS co-showrunner Steven D. Binder recently shared his thoughts on potential crossovers within the franchise. Despite the challenges posed by NCIS: Origins’ 1990s setting, Binder expressed openness to intertwining all the spinoffs with the original show’s upcoming Season 22.

Binder noted that Michael Weatherly, who portrayed Tony DiNozzo, made a brief appearance in NCIS Season 21 after leaving the series, indicating a willingness to participate in crossovers. He stated, “I don’t speak for Michael, but I have a feeling Michael would be up for anything like that. So, we’re all for it.”

While integrating Tony and Ziva back into the original series seems feasible, NCIS: Origins presents unique challenges due to its time-traveling premise. However, Binder remains optimistic, suggesting that the show’s different time period could inspire creative solutions for potential crossovers.

Despite uncertainties about how these crossovers will be executed, fans have plenty of time to speculate and anticipate as all three shows are slated to premiere on CBS this fall. Stay tuned for updates as the NCIS universe continues to expand and evolve.
