NCIS Fans Mourn as Mark Harmon and Cast Pay Tribute to David McCallum
The NCIS family is grieving the loss of a beloved star, as David McCallum, who portrayed Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, passed away on September 25 at the age of 90 from natural causes. Tributes poured in from co-stars, including Mark Harmon, who shared a heartfelt statement with TVLine.
“David lived a great, full, long life,” Harmon reflected. “I was in awe when I first met him, and all of us on the show were honored to have toed a mark opposite him. My condolences go out to Katherine [David’s wife] and his family.”
McCallum, the last original cast member of NCIS, joined the series at its start in 2003 and appeared remotely in the Season 20 finale. As fans recall, Harmon and McCallum had been part of the show since its pilot, though Harmon left during Season 19.
The official NCIS Instagram page also paid tribute: “David was a gifted actor and author, and beloved by many around the world. He led an incredible life, and his legacy will forever live on… We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor.”
Our thoughts are with David’s wife, Katherine, his family, and all who knew and loved him. His legacy as NCIS’s Ducky and as a cultural icon from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. will live on.
