Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are set to return as Tony DiNozzo, Jr. and Ziva David in the upcoming NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva. A decade after their last appearance on the flagship show, the fan-favorite characters are reuniting on screen. The new series is currently filming in Budapest, with cast members sharing behind-the-scenes content. The latest snapshot, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @prettywildmtv, offers the first look at Weatherly and de Pablo in character. In the photo, de Pablo sits in her set chair while Weatherly stands nearby, seemingly in conversation. However, the picture doesn’t reveal details about the specific scene they’re filming.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will follow Tony, Ziva, and their tween daughter, Tali, as they go on the run across Europe, pursued by an unnamed threat. While the central conflict of the spinoff remains under wraps, it’s clear that the family will have the support of skilled operatives on the continent, reducing the likelihood of a reunion with the Major Case Response Team (MCRT) in Navy Yard. The show will explore the trio’s strained relationships, particularly Tali’s struggle to cope with her mother’s faked death, which Ziva orchestrated to protect her family. Although Tony eventually discovered Ziva was alive, it’s implied that Tali only learned the truth once Ziva rejoined them, adding tension to their dynamic.
Instead of airing on CBS, NCIS: Tony & Ziva will stream on Paramount+, with a planned run of 10 episodes—shorter than the typical 20-episode seasons of other NCIS series. There are also rumors that NCIS season 22 might include a backdoor pilot for the spinoff, though this has yet to be confirmed.
