Paramount+ announced last Thursday that the 10-episode European-based spin-off series, NCIS: Tony & Ziva (NCIS: Europe), has begun production in Budapest, Hungary, according to Index.
The cameras are already rolling in Budapest, where former NCIS actors Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo will reprise their roles as Anthony DiNozzo and Ziva David. They will be joined by Isla Gie, who will portray their 12-year-old daughter Tali, Variety reported.
Additionally, the cast will include Amita Suman (Shadow and Bone) as the technical director of Tony’s security firm and Maximilian Osinski (Ted Lasso), who will play a Russian hacker. Nassima Benchicou (Emily in Paris) will portray a former agent, while James D’Arcy (Agent Carter) takes on the role of a high-ranking Interpol agent.
This new series reunites Cote de Pablo, who departed the original series after season 11, and Michael Weatherly, who left after season 13. In the original series, Ziva was presumed dead, leading Tony to leave the team to raise their daughter. However, it was later revealed that Ziva was alive, and the former NCIS agents are now raising their daughter together in Paris.
Filming has commenced on the project, though the premiere date for the series remains unknown.
NCIS is an American military police procedural television series and the first installment within the NCIS media franchise. The series revolves around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), blending elements of military drama, police procedural, and comedy genres. As of 2022, NCIS is the third-longest-running scripted, live-action U.S. prime-time TV series currently airing.
