Stephen Amell recently shared that he felt he was “c**k-blocked” out of a role in the upcoming series NCIS: Origins. On the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, he talked about auditioning for the NCIS prequel the same week he successfully auditioned for the Suits spin-off, Suits: LA.
Amell expressed excitement about the possibility of playing a younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, noting that his audition went “extraordinarily well” and he received positive feedback. However, the next day, he learned that the opportunity was suddenly off the table. “I felt like someone, somewhere had, like, c**k-blocked me,” he said, expressing his frustration over the situation.
The role ultimately went to Austin Stowell, known for Catch-22. Amell also recounted a challenging moment on his way to the Suits: LA audition, where he experienced a breakdown due to a mix of stressors, including a difficult phone call and the pressures of parenting alone.
He went into the audition with a sense of freedom, deciding to approach it with a more relaxed attitude, contrasting the serious tone he expected from others. Reflecting on landing the role, Amell concluded, “I got the job that I was supposed to get, and everything does work out for a reason.”
NCIS: Origins is set to premiere on October 14 on CBS, while NCIS is currently airing with its first 20 seasons available for streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
