NCIS: Hawai’i Fans Rally Around Canceled Spinoff in Heartfelt Show of Support
NCIS: Hawai’i may have ended after just three seasons, but its impact remains strong. The spinoff, celebrated for its diverse cast and stunning Hawaiian setting, was unexpectedly canceled, leaving fans and cast members stunned. Despite this, the show’s legacy continues to shine brightly, winning a recent fan poll as the most beloved NCIS spinoff.
Series star Vanessa Lachey shared the poll results, which showed NCIS: Hawai’i receiving 63% of the votes, far ahead of NCIS: Los Angeles at 28% and NCIS: New Orleans at 8%. Lachey expressed her gratitude on Instagram, calling Hawai’i fans the “best in the world” and adding:
“I ❤️ U! BEST fans in the WORLD!!!”
The show’s cancellation in April 2024 hit Lachey hard. She described feeling “gutted, confused, and blindsided” but also “grateful” for the love and support from fans. In a heartfelt post, she apologized for the abrupt ending and lack of closure, writing:
“Wish we had more time, I’m sorry we don’t. I wish we had a proper goodbye, I’m sorry we didn’t. I will go to the ends of the earth for my cast & crew.”
Other cast members echoed Lachey’s sentiments, noting the disappointment of losing the franchise’s most diverse show and its first female-led series. Lachey’s character, Jane Tennant, had been a fan favorite, even making a prominent appearance in the 2023 NCIS crossover.
Fans hope to see Tennant return for future crossover events, keeping the spirit of NCIS: Hawai’i alive in the broader franchise.
