**Is Katrina Law’s Jessica Knight Leaving NCIS?**
Since Jessica Knight’s (Katrina Law) storyline took an unexpected turn in the season 21 finale of NCIS, viewers have been questioning the character’s future and if she’ll return for season 22.
Jessica Knight made her NCIS debut in season 18 as a guest star and was promoted to a main cast member by season 19. Initially a member of the REACT Unit at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., her team was disbanded after an explosion killed most of her colleagues. Determined to find those responsible, Knight joined Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) NCIS Major Case Response Team and, after the case was closed, became a permanent member, building strong relationships with her new colleagues.
Given NCIS’s 21-season run, the lead team of agents frequently changes. Mark Harmon, a long-time staple, left after 19 seasons, and fans hoped for stability. However, it now appears that Knight might be the next to leave.
Season 21 was significant for Knight as she navigated her relationship with Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and dealt with family and workplace drama involving her father, Feng Zhao (Russell Wong). The season finale threw a curveball when Knight was offered the chief of training position for the REACT team, which would require her to relocate to Camp Pendleton. Surprisingly, Knight revealed she would accept the job offer.
This decision leaves viewers uncertain about Knight’s future until season 22. Showrunner Steven D. Binder has remained cryptic, hinting at unpredictable twists: “We do aim to please, and we think the audience will be satisfied with where they see this go.”
Katrina Law also hinted at uncertainty, telling TVLine that viewers would have to watch the season opener to find out if she returns in season 22. These statements suggest that Knight’s story isn’t over yet and that she may appear in some capacity before potentially departing.
While Knight’s departure isn’t confirmed, the season 21 finale hints at the possible beginning of the end for her time on NCIS.
