The network’s latest promotional effort might be their biggest misstep yet.
Although CBS officially canceled NCIS: Hawai’i earlier this year, a recent social media post by the network has stirred up the show’s fans once more, leaving them either hopeful for a revival or furious at CBS’s audacity.
Unfortunately, the latter seems more likely. A few days ago, the NCIS official Instagram account, ncisverse, attempted to wish their followers a happy summer solstice with a post featuring several pictures from the NCIS shows’ production sets, including some with characters from NCIS: Hawai’i. This quickly garnered negative attention.
Many fans expressed their displeasure, criticizing CBS for their apparent disregard for viewers’ feelings by implying that NCIS: Hawai’i was still ongoing despite its cancellation. Some fans accused the network’s executives of insensitivity, while others revived a previously forgotten petition urging CBS to bring back NCIS: Hawai’i.
### Why Was NCIS: Hawai’i Canceled?
CBS canceled the show in April, leaving many fans heartbroken and outraged. This led to a social media campaign calling out the network for replacing a successful series with new, potentially less appealing shows. Despite the efforts of proactive fans, the campaign saw little progress. Adding to their frustration, NCIS: Hawai’i ended on a major cliffhanger, which now seems unlikely ever to be resolved.
The reasons behind the NCIS account managers’ decision to post such a contentious message remain unclear, but this latest blunder has sparked another wave of criticism that CBS will likely spend some time addressing.
