The future looks bright for NCIS spin-off NCIS: Origins, as the show has officially been renewed for a full season. Originally ordered for 13 episodes, with five already aired, the series now has an extended lineup, bringing the episode count up to 18.
The show’s Instagram account celebrated the news, saying, “Get ready to keep showing up to the bullpen because #NCISOrigins is officially renewed for a FULL SEASON! Meet you and the gang back at Camp Pendleton on CBS Monday.”
The prequel follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell, with Mark Harmon providing voiceover narration and even a cameo in the premiere episode. The cast also includes Diany Rodriguez as a young Vera Strickland and Kyle Schmid as Mike Franks. In a recent interview, Harmon praised Stowell’s audition, saying, “I felt the room jump a little when Austin came in, before he said anything… there were really few who drew the attention Austin did. We got everybody we wanted.”
NCIS: Origins airs Monday nights on CBS in the US, while the main NCIS series is also available on CBS. Seasons 1–20 of NCIS are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
