It’s been almost three years since Mark Harmon last appeared on NCIS, but he’s not leaving his iconic roles behind. In fact, fans are thrilled with his latest comeback announcement.
Back in 2003, Harmon played Jamie Lee Curtis’ fiancé-turned-husband Ryan in the hit Disney film Freaky Friday. Now, according to Deadline, he’s set to reprise this role in the highly anticipated sequel, Freaky Friday 2. Harmon isn’t the only original cast member returning. Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will all be back. Newcomers Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons are joining the cast, with the film scheduled for a 2025 release.
Fans expressed their excitement on social media. “Thrilled to see Mark Harmon in Freaky Friday 2 tbh,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added, “Because two of my favorites are coming back, I’ll give it a watch, and by favorites I mean The Jamie Lee Curtis and Mark Harmon ❤️.”
While Harmon hasn’t publicly commented on the news, he hinted at the possibility during a November 2023 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, teasing that something was in the works.
“If [Jamie]’s talking about it, then it’ll happen because all things happen,” he said.
As for the plot of Freaky Friday 2, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the film will follow Tess and Anna Coleman years after the first movie. This time, Anna is integrating a step-daughter into her family, which already includes one daughter. As they navigate the challenges of blending families, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.
We can’t wait to see what happens next!
