Michael Weatherly Gives Fans a Glimpse Into His Busy Life Filming Tony & Ziva in Budapest

Michael Weatherly has been keeping fans updated on his busy schedule while filming Tony & Ziva in Budapest, reprising his beloved role as Agent Tony DiNozzo alongside his close friend, Cote de Pablo. Since starting production in July, Michael has been balancing long days on set with weekend adventures, often exploring the vibrant Hungarian capital or visiting his family in Connecticut.

On Sunday, Michael shared a stylish selfie on X (formerly Twitter), captioning it with a snapshot of his laid-back weekend: “Hiking, working, wandering, drinking, sleeping, staring, listening, thinking.” In a reply to a fan, Michael humorously revealed he was enjoying a “great lunch” while wearing a “corduroy suit”—a nod to his off-duty style as he unwinds before another busy week.

With the weekend coming to a close, Michael is gearing up to return to the set, but this week is extra special for the Tony & Ziva cast. On Tuesday, November 12, Michael’s co-star and longtime friend, Cote de Pablo, will celebrate her 45th birthday. It’s likely there’ll be an on-set celebration, especially with Cote being far from home. Fans are already guessing whether Michael will post a sweet birthday message for his friend.

The bond between Michael and Cote dates back to 2005 when Cote joined NCIS as Ziva David. Over the years, their friendship has only grown stronger, with both stars frequently praising each other in interviews. Michael recalled their first meeting during a screen test, admitting, “I just remember her cold stare. She just loathed me instantly—but we quickly became very close friends.”

Cote mirrored these sentiments in a 2009 interview, saying, “We sort of hated each other immediately, and loved each other immediately.” Despite their initial tension, the two found common ground and formed a deep, lasting friendship. While fans once speculated about a romance between the two on-screen partners, Michael has always emphasized that their relationship is purely platonic. He also revealed that Cote and his wife, Bojana Jankovic, get along well, joking that they both know he’s “wrong all the time.”

As the Tony & Ziva production continues, fans are eagerly watching the dynamic between these two close friends on-screen—and looking forward to more updates from Budapest.
