The NCIS franchise is expanding yet again with the introduction of NCIS: Origins, a prequel series set in 1991 that explores the early days of some of the franchise’s beloved characters. This bold move by the producers is fueled by the success of flashback episodes in the original NCIS series, which delved into pivotal moments like Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ first encounter with Donald Mallard.

The excitement for NCIS: Origins is palpable, especially with the release of a cast video that introduces the actors bringing these younger versions of familiar characters to life. Among them, Austin Stowell steps into the shoes of a youthful Leroy Jethro Gibbs, while Kyle Schmid dons a new look as the younger Mike Franks, complete with a beard.

Other key characters include Mariel Molino as Special Agent Lala Dominguez, Tyla Abercrumbie as Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Sullivan, and Diany Rodriguez as Special Agent Vera Strickland. Caleb Foote takes on the role of Special Agent Benjamin “Randy” Randolf, Daniel Bellomy portrays Special Agent Granville “Granny” Dawson, and Robert Taylor embodies Jackson Gibbs, Leroy Gibbs’ father.

The anticipation is high for NCIS: Origins, which has secured the coveted Monday 10/9c time slot previously held by NCIS: Hawai’i. NCIS Season 22 will lead into this new prequel series, promising fans a deeper dive into the rich backstory of their favorite characters. With the stage set and the cast ready to take viewers on a journey back in time, the fall of 2024 holds great promise for NCIS enthusiasts.
