“Young Leroy Jethro Gibbs Cast for NCIS Prequel Series: Major NCIS Spinoff Announced!

CBS Studios is expanding the NCIS universe with a new drama titled NCIS: Origins, set to premiere in the 2024-2025 broadcast season. The series will serve as a prequel to the long-running procedural and will delve into the younger years of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell.

Narrated by Mark Harmon, who plays Gibbs in the original series, NCIS: Origins will take viewers back to 1991, exploring Gibbs’ early days as a special agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office. The show will follow Gibbs as he navigates his way through a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.

Mark Harmon, along with his son Sean Harmon, who has portrayed young Gibbs in flashbacks on NCIS, serves as executive producers on the prequel series. David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal are co-writing the premiere episode and serving as co-showrunners.

NCIS: Origins is part of CBS Studios’ efforts to expand the NCIS franchise, joining another spinoff set in Europe starring Michael Weatherly and Cote De Pablo for Paramount+. These new additions join the original NCIS series, NCIS: Hawai’i, and NCIS: Sydney.

Austin Stowell, known for his roles in A Friend of the Family and Battle of the Sexes, among others, takes on the iconic role of young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in this exciting new chapter of the NCIS saga.”
