Mark Harmon Returns! Get Ready to See Gibbs in ‘NCIS: Origins’ Spinoff Premiere
NCIS: Origins is bringing back a familiar face—Mark Harmon, the iconic Leroy Jethro Gibbs! During a panel discussion, co-showrunner David J. North confirmed that Harmon will briefly appear on screen in the spinoff’s pilot, with new footage shot specifically for this cameo. “I hope the audience will be excited to see him after so many years,” North teased. Harmon, who left NCIS early in Season 19, will also narrate the series and serve as an executive producer.
The prequel follows a young Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) as he begins his career as a Special Agent in 1991, alongside a young Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid). While North hinted that Harmon’s cameo opens the door for future appearances, NCIS: Origins will focus on Gibbs’ early days in the NIS Camp Pendleton office.
NCIS: Origins premieres with a two-episode special on Monday, Oct. 14, at 9/8c, before moving to its regular time slot. Excited to see Gibbs back in action? Let us know your thoughts!
