NCIS Season 21 ended on a dramatic note with Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) breaking up. As the Season 22 premiere approaches, showrunner Steven D. Binder has teased what’s next for the former couple.
Jimmy Palmer’s New Life
Season 22 will jump forward several months from the breakup. Jessica Knight is now on the West Coast, serving as the chief REACT training officer and fully immersed in her career. Meanwhile, Jimmy Palmer is exploring the dating scene. Binder hinted, “He’s been busy as a single man, and that will come up at the most inopportune time.”
Confronting the Past
The premiere episode will see Knight facing a critical situation in a hostage negotiation, leading to a significant discussion between her and Jimmy. Binder also teased a deeper conversation in Episode 4, during a high-stakes situation he refers to as “World War III.” This pivotal moment will force Jimmy and Knight to confront who they are and what their future holds, with high emotional stakes involved.

NCIS Season 22 premieres on Monday, October 14, at 9 p.m. Eastern on CBS. All episodes, including previous seasons, are available for streaming on Paramount+.
