Don’t believe the rumors about why Pauley Perrette is leaving “NCIS.”
Perrette, who will end her role as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto at the end of Season 15, is speaking out after noticing her image being used without permission in ads for skincare lines. Some of these ads falsely claim that she is leaving the CBS hit to focus on cosmetics, which Perrette says is completely untrue.
“THE LIES!” Perrette tweeted on Tuesday. “EVERYONE asking me about this (FAKE) skincare line? I DON’T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE! I think Facebook, Yahoo, MSN, and all sites making money off fake ads should be liable for posting false ads. I’M NOT LEAVING NCIS FOR A SKIN CARE LINE!” she added. “I’m leaving, but that’s not why.”
Perrette also appeared on “Inside Edition” to expose the scam. “It’s a fake company — it’s a scam,” she told the newsmagazine. “I’ve had hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people asking why I would pick a skincare line over my job.”
When Perrette announced last month that she would be leaving “NCIS,” she didn’t specify why, but she made it clear it wasn’t to pursue a new career in beauty products. However, the misleading ads have persisted.
“There have been all kinds of false rumors as to why (NO I DON’T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE…” she tweeted on October 3.
