“NCIS” first premiered in 2003, and more than two decades later, fans remain hooked on the show—no matter who’s in the cast.
When the CBS drama began, audiences were introduced to Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team, which originally included Kate Todd (Sasha Alexander), Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum). Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) joined the team a few episodes later, in episode seven.
As of Season 22 in fall 2024, McGee is the last remaining member of the original cast. (McCallum, who passed away in September 2023 at age 90, was honored in Season 21.) The newer cast members are well aware of the iconic characters who came before them. “If Ziva came back and we got a good couple of scenes together, I would be beyond stoked,” Katrina Law, who plays Jessica Knight, told Us Weekly in April 2022, sharing her excitement about the possibility of working with Cote de Pablo’s beloved character, Ziva.
