NCIS: Sydney Renewed for Season 2 by CBS! The Australian police procedural series, starring Special Agent-in-Charge Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann), ended Season 1 with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. The finale saw the elusive Ana Niemus (Georgina Haig) captured by NCIS, only to be released by JD (Todd Lasance) upon uncovering her ties to Colonel Rankin (Lewis Fitz-Gerald). As the NCIS franchise grows, Sydney’s fate hung in the balance after the January finale.
Now, Variety confirms that NCIS: Sydney will be back for season 2 at CBS and Paramount+. The news comes as little surprise considering the success of season 1, which was a strong performer on both cable and streaming. As the latest spin-off in the NCIS franchise, the main cast is expected to return, but potential new characters could also join for season 2. Showrunner Morgan O’Neill said in a statement:

“We’re beyond stoked with the response to the first season of the show, both in Australia and around the world, and that the team at ‘NCIS: Sydney’ is returning for a second season. We’re especially thrilled to invite our audience deeper into the lives of our core team, peeling back the layers to find out what really makes them tick. This will be even more important as we see the bonds of the new family tested to breaking point in the face of a much more potent enemy looming on the horizon.”
The Season 1 finale of NCIS: Sydney left viewers with burning questions and tantalizing clues for Season 2. The episode teased a compelling storyline regarding the connection between Ana and Colonel Rankin, hinting at his potential involvement in the overarching narrative. In a dramatic turn of events, Ana finds herself in NCIS custody, but when JD’s son is abducted from his birthday party by a clown, JD is forced to hand Ana over. However, the situation takes a deadly twist when the clown reveals his intent to kill JD. In a shocking twist, Ana intervenes, dispatching the clown herself and revealing his phone, which holds only one contact: Colonel Rankin.
