It seems that actor Sean Murray’s time as Timothy McGee on NCIS might be coming to an end. Since 2003, Murray has portrayed the beloved character, but this season, McGee has found himself at a crossroads. In the Season 22 premiere, it was revealed that McGee had thrown his hat into the ring for the Deputy Director position—something that surprised many, especially since he had previously turned down leading the NCIS Major Case Response Team (MCRT) after Gibbs (Mark Harmon) retired. McGee had always shied away from desk jobs, preferring the field over paperwork, but the desire to climb the ranks was still there. Despite his years of dedication, McGee ultimately didn’t get the job.
In Episode 4, which aired November 4, producers seem to be setting up McGee’s replacement as the new leader of MCRT. The team faces a high-stakes mission to prevent World War III, clashing with the FBI along the way. With Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) and Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) temporarily out of the picture, the team brings in Curtis Hubley (J. Claude Deering) for his first appearance in 2024. Curtis works alongside Katie Hines (Diona Reasonover) to provide crucial technical support at MTAC, even going so far as to continue the mission despite FBI interference. His determination to stay loyal to MCRT and work behind the scenes echoes McGee’s own computer-savvy skills, positioning him as a natural successor to McGee’s role.
